Lowcountry Bookshop A Liz Talbot Mystery Book 7 edition by Susan M Boyer Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

I innocently happened upon the Liz Talbot Mysteries when looking for a "light" mystery book for my mom for Mother's Day three years ago. I downloaded the Kindle version to make sure it was "appropriate," and found the story and series just delightful! Fun, entertaining, regionally set, and a good solid mystery with beautiful tones humor and romance! This latest venture is possibly the best so far and such a fun and intriguing reading adventure! While each book can stand alone, don't neglect reading all of them! Each one builds on the other, and like a must-course meal, each one gets better and better! Lowcountry Bookshop is a wonderful beach read, but, it is also an anytime read! Enjoy it, and if you don't have the other six, delight yourself by reading them too! (The publisher provided me with an advance electronic copy of this book. I'm voluntarily sharing my thoughts here.) And even if I hadn't had the chance to read it early I would have read it the first day it was released! Go to your favorite bookshop or e-book source and enjoy a getaway to South Carolina's low country! Susan Boyer has a beautiful writing style, descriptive and witty! The books are top notch mysteries!

Lowcountry Bookshop A Liz Talbot Mystery Book 7 edition by Susan M Boyer Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

One of my favorite cozy mystery series, the plot is intertwined with fun relatives and small southern town connections, a feeling of the ocean breezes, a taste of southern cooking , romance and heavenly assistance on cases, though there was very little assistance in this latest episode. I enjoyed the fun that Liz's dad brought into this story, though goats in the house seemed a bit over the top. I love the disguises Liz and Nate use and how tangled their story got when a couple of suspects were unexpectedly encountered with Liz not in costume and Nate suspected of cheating on Liz since they didn't recognize her as his wife. All round, much fun and I am looking forward to the next story which I expect might have more if Colleen's ghostly help and perhaps more with sister Merry's new marriage.
I've loved this series. Liz is a wonderful heroine, love her hero, and her ghostly friend is a delight.

Buuut.... this book kind of dragged. I felt as if we did an awful lot of driving around Charleston, naming all the streets, and as I have never been to Charleston I did not know or care where we were. I just wanted to get on with the story.
Fantastic addition to the Liz Talbot series! Smart and clever, the book is populated with characters we've grown to love plus some wonderful new additions, human and animal alike. Stella Maris and Charleston are beautifully described with enough detail to make you feel you're right there with Liz without overwhelming the story and Ms Boyer expertly infuses humor into the book as a counterpoint to the difficult subject matter. Case in point the funniest dinner party scene ever!
A note I did receive an advance, free copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review. That said, this will be tagged as a "Verified Purchase" because I did, in fact, buy a copy for my . Need to support the authors beyond reviews.
I loved it!! I have every book in this series and have enjoyed each one. A great series! Since I live close to Charleston, SC, I am familiar with the shops, streets, and places mentioned in the book. This addition to the series tackles a social issue domestic abuse. Ms. Boyer portrays the problem without going overboard as some authors do. I love Liz, Nate, and Colleen, but I am wondering about this recurring storm dream that Liz has. I cannot wait until the next book in the series comes out. Write faster, Ms. Boyer, please!!! )
The author does a great job setting the stage for this light-hearted drama with visually descriptive narrative and engaging dialogue that had me immersed in a book that I could not put down, quickly becoming a page turner. The pacing was on par with how well this multi-plot tale captured the essence of southern hospitality while endearing me to the escapades of those involved, no matter how much mayhem it may have caused. Who wanted Mr. Drayton dead? Was it the wife? A business partner? A friend? With a short list of suspects, the discoveries made by Liz and Nate played a factor as the drama unfolded and bit by bit, it all came down to one scenario that made plausible sense incorporating a few twists and turns that enhanced how delightfully entertaining this tale added to my reading pleasure. Bonus in my reading involved goats, pigs, a hole in the ground and several days at a spa. T
Reading the latest book on Susan Boyer’s Lowcountry series is like going back to visit old friends. You know, the kind who can pick up the conversation right where you left off. Liz, Nate, Colleen and the rest of the crew are back to take us on a tour of Charleston and Stella Maris, by way of an intriguing mystery.

However, you don’t have to read the other six books to enjoy Lowcountry Bookshop. This book stands alone as a good mystery and a fun read. To balance out the violent undertones that are part of Liz and Nate’s private investigation business, the book has light and humorous moments with Liz’s family shenanigans. And then there’s the food. Oh my, the food! You can almost taste all the wonderful southern cuisine in every meal, whether in a Charleston restaurant or in Mamma Talbot’s kitchen.

This time around, the investigative duo is unraveling the questions surrounding what seems like a simple hit and run. But is anything ever simple in their lives? Heck no. Not only is the case not a slam dunk, but the layers upon layers of possibilities leaves everyone guessing up to the last chapter…even Liz and Nate.

The book left me ready for the next one in the series. For anyone who has read the others, there will be inside references that make you want to know more. For the new readers, there are story lines that are likely to play a big part in the future.

I was given an advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion, but I had already ordered a copy because I love this series.
